Top Ten Elliptical Cross Trainers

Trying to decide which elliptical cross trainer is right for you? Which one is best for your workout and your budget? The following is a list compiled of the highest-rated elliptical cross trainers, in no particular order.

#1 - Precor EFX 546. A superior piece of workout equipment and doctor-recommended. Pricey, though - it costs over $5000.

#2 - ProForm 900. Rated best value by Prevention Magazine

#3 - Precor EFX 5.17i. Rated highest quality model, also by Prevention.

#4 - NordicTrack CXT990. Elliptical pioneer NordicTrack makes this model with more features than any other.

#5 - ProForm 800 CardioCross Trainer. Ranked "Champ" of Ellipticals by Good Housekeeping for comfort and safety.

#6 - Stamina Conversion II Elliptical/Stepper 55-2050. Good Housekeeping's first-runner up.

#7 - Tunturi C6. Tested by Which? Magazine and ranked high for convenience and ease of use.

#8 - Vision Fitness X6200 HRTDA. Also ranked high by Which? for suitability and features.

#9 - Star Trac's Natural Runner. Received positive reviews for custom workout features and ease of use.

#10 - Reebok Elliptical Cross-Trainer 6808. Consumer Reports ranked it #1 based on testing. And the price is only $500.

When comparing elliptical cross trainers, look for models that allow you to adjust the incline for a more complete workout. Also, models that store your information (such as weight and workout preferences) allow you to monitor your exercise goals and progress. Watch out for models that move across the floor while you are working out - dangerous! And whenever possible, try before you buy. That way you will know if the machine is comfortable for you to use.

How To Lose A Fat Back & Get Rid Of Bra Overhang

Do you know somebody with a fat back?

Maybe a friend, a colleague; or do you have a fat back?

Bra overhang and fat back unfortunately go hand This not only looks unsightly but can also lead to reduced self esteem. The fashion industry, notoriously fickle. does little to address this problem, offering low back dresses and tops, sheer blouses that show every bulge, in plus sizes, irrespective of how unsuitable they may turn out to be for the wearer.

Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercises will improve the overall appearance by creating a calorific deficit:

Swimming is an ideal form of aerobic exercise, styles such as front crawl and butterfly stroke are particularly good for strengthening the back muscles.

Skipping is another great way to exercise. Effective, inexpensive and accessible.

Diet

Spot reduction of fat is impossible to achieve. Where you lose it from first is largely determined by genes;

Consume fewer calories than you burn off and you WILL LOSE FAT

Eat a well balance diet, preferably low fat with plenty of fruit and vegetables.

Toning

Toning, changes the composition of the back, from lose fat to lean muscle.

Try these simple exercises that can be done in the home

Bent Over Row

Stand with feet shoulder width apart and a weight in each hand to the front of the body.
Lean slightly forward at the waist, with knees slightly bent.

Bending the elbows bring the weights up to the chest then return to starting position.

Repeat 10-20 times. Aim to keep your body motion to a minimum

Boxers Jab

Stand with feet shoulder width apart and arms bent at elbows in front of face. Make a fist with your hands. Jab with left hand, sharp movement, no jerking or swinging, just flexing. Repeat twenty times then change arms. Remember to keep the jabbing upper arm close to the body.

Targeting the back muscles ensures that when the fat back has diminished and eventually disappeared you are left with a well toned sensuous back.

Posture

Good posture will make you look and feel better regardless of your shape or size. Slouching rounds the shoulders, causing the bra back band to rise, emphasising bra overhang and back fat. Strengthening tummy and back muscles will aid good posture, increase your confidence and make walking tall so much easier.

Clothing

Bras

To minimise a fat back and bra overhang, make a good fitting bra your best friend.

90% of the support is in the back band, therefore if it is too slack it will not support the breasts and impede good posture. Alternatively if it is too tight even the smallest amount of fat will be made visible. Try out one of a new range of bras made of gossamer (the fabric used for panty hose tops) which mould with the body and minimiise fat backs and bra overhang.

Dresses

Bustier type tops are by design tight fitting under the arms and around the chest and back. Avoid wearing this style until your exercise and diet programme is well under way.

Sheer Tops

Try wearing a camisole top underneath. This will appear just as feminine and you wont have to worry about back fat.

Vest Tops

With built in cups and support that allow you to go bra less are a great way to eliminate additional problems that bras bring to back fat.

Fat back and bra overhang plague many women-that is, until they do something about it.

Exercise, diet posture and a decent bra will work wonders in the short term and especially in the long term.

The Definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

The Definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

Integrated Pest Management is a control strategy that uses all available information to give long-term pest control. Integrated pest management incorporates targeted sustainable and environmentally sound methods.

Methods of Integrated pest management (IPM) include education, habitat modification, biological control, cultural control and, where necessary, the use of the least hazardous pesticides.

The three E's are a simple way to remember the main principles of IPM.

Effectiveness - (How well will the method work?)
Economics - (How much will it cost?)
Environment - (Does it include non target animals/organisms?)

Integrated Pest Management Assessment

The Basis...
The basis of Integrated Pest Management is to make a correct assessment of existing pest infestations and forecast likely future pest infestations. The assessment is based on an Integrated Pest Management Survey, including correct identification of any pest species that are present. Practical knowledge of pest behaviour and the effectiveness and risks associated with the available pest control methods.

To carry out an effective pest assessment and identification we need a good understanding of the relationship between hazard and risk.

Hazard is the potential something has to cause harm. Harm may include a skin rash a cough or in extreme cases even death.

Risk is the likelihood that the hazard will cause you harm. Integrated Pest Management assessments should follow a six-point plan:

* 1 Assess the extent of the problem by undertaking a full survey of the premises.
* 2 assess if the problems can be solved by good housekeeping alone.
* 3 Assess if the problem can be solved by the use of non-chemical methods.
* 4 If the problem cannot be solved by using non-chemical methods what is the most suitable and least hazardous pesticide.
* 5 Assess post treatment action to reduce risks to both occupiers and the environment.
* 6 Assess whether future treatment and monitoring visits are required.

Integrated Pest Management Survey Techniques

The Survey...
An Integrated Pest Management survey is one that collects the data required on the pest species, including the distribution and numbers of pest at a given point in time.

When surveys are conducted over a longer period they are considered to be monitoring operations. Which are to show us how the pest population changes, so we can check the performance of our control operations.

The ability to accurately survey a property is fundamental to the Integrated Pest Management monitoring process. Firstly obtain a site plan and undertake a walk around to familiarise yourself with the premises. Take note of any signs of pest activity this may include droppings and damage to property or products. Ask people who work on the site if the have noticed signs of pests or have had pest problems in the past. Note any housekeeping issues, as all pests need food and moisture to survive. Look for cracks/ holes in walls and broken drain covers. Once the survey is complete you should consider whether you have all the information you require to make a full Integrated Pest Management assessment. Do you need to make another site visit? Consider undertaking a night survey.

Integrated Pest Management Monitoring

Monitoring...
Site visits may not be enough to discover all pest species monitoring traps should be used to assess possible pest activity. Some monitoring devices are designed to attract and trap and kill insects other traps will catch the pest alive such a live catch mousetraps. The presence of pests in a monitoring trap gives us a good indication of the size of the infestation. Monitoring dust is also a useful tool to track and monitor pest activity.

Pest Identification

Identification...
Accurate pest identification of pest species is a critical factor in IPM. Pest can usually be identified from their external anatomy. Occasionally a Specialist in insect identification may need to be used.

Pest Control

Control...
Once the extent of the problem has been identified the best method of pest control can be decided. The most environmentally acceptable methods should always be considered first.

Non-chemical methods include proofing to keep the pest out of the infested area. The use of bristle strips and fly screens can be a good solution. Activities such as filling Rodent access holes with rodent proof paste or even better cement will have very good effect. Investigate the possibility of changing the environment to make it unsuitable to the pest to live. Consider trapping methods.

Chemical control is the last option you should consider Pesticides come in many forms these include bait, gels and sprays. A good pesticide will be selective in action meaning it will have a good effect on the target but be safe to use where non target animals / organisms may be present. Most pesticides will present some hazard to animals and humans but the risk can be lowered with proper application techniques and the use of PPE.

When it has been established that the use of a pesticide is required a properly approved product must be used and must be applied using the correct method.

Always check the product label for application rates required PPE and that is suitable to treat the particular pest. Most pesticides can only be purchased and used by trained and qualified operators.

How to Start a House Cleaning Business

Have you ever thought about how to start a housecleaning business? When you think of how to start a housecleaning business you will probably think of questions such as - How do I start a housecleaning business? - Do I have what it takes to run my own house cleaning business? - How do I find and keep clients? - How much should I charge? - What other services can I offer to my clients? - How do I hire and train staff? - How does commercial cleaning differ from home cleaning?

And most of the people who have dreamed about how to start a housecleaning business have been hesitant to put their plans into action, as they cannot find the correct answer for these questions. This comprehensive guide will help you to successfully launch and grow your business by offering expert advice on each and every aspect of setting up and running a prosperous home-based housecleaning business.

Housecleaning businesses are one of the fastest-growing service businesses in the United States. It is an ideal option for new entrepreneurs, part-time workers, and also for those people who would like to make a career switch. In today's busy world, these are highly sought commodities, and a good housecleaning service offers comfort and order. Housecleaning is a cost effective business with low operating expenses, inexpensive equipment, and a flexible work schedule. Generally speaking, the answer to how to start a housecleaning business is an understanding of basic cleaning technology. In the very beginning of housecleaning business, the home cleaning service might start out small, but it has the potential to foster into a multi-million dollar business with branch offices and franchises.

The very first thing about how to start a housecleaning business is to develop a business plan and policy. After developing a business plan you need a unique name which must stands out from the rest. The next and important step before starting the business is to insure your housecleaning business. You are starting the business, and as you are the sole-proprietor, insuring your business entitles you to the status of independent contractor. Insurance also eases the minds of your future clientele as well as it gives you peace of mind to work freely.

The next important step is to get a copy of your background check and police record. Hopefully, you won't have one; but depending on which state you are residing in, you have to pick up the application at the State Trooper Barracks, City Hall or the Police Station. This is a simple step; you just take about 5 minutes to fill out the form. The application fee will be between $3 and $15.00. After filling out the form, mail it in, and within 14 days the form will be mailed back to you with an official stamp stating "No record." You can take photocopies of this form, as you should provide this certificate to your prospective clientele with your information packet.

The information packet is the major step in the housecleaning business - it is what makes your business professional. The information packet must contain a printout or photocopy of your policy and procedures, insurance and background check, references and a sample work order. In your policy statement you should explain the details of your working policy. This will give information such as: your hours of operation; if you will work in a house that has a dog; if you bring the cleaning products or the client has to provide his/her own cleaning products; your rates (per hour or per job); and what form of payment you take. All these details have to be included in the policy statement.

Don't forget to include a sample work order in your information packet. For example, in cleaning a bedroom, what will you do? That is, you must write - ceiling fan will be dusted, trinkets dusted, bedroom furniture dusted, sheets changed and bed made, carpet vacuumed and any other service you will provide. Also, you can custom create a work order if a client wants something done which is not on the work order.

Also, it is a plus for you to include at least two references. Adding references might be a difficult task as you are just starting out so add them as you go along. You can get a references by offering a free cleaning for some community organizations or churches.

When you create your business cards, you must only include your name with the title of proprietor, and your telephone number. Don't put anything such as FREE ESTIMATES or CHEAP on the cards. You have to present yourself as a person offering a professional service.

Now you've got some idea about how to start a housecleaning business! It is a highly profitable business. So what's stopping you now?

How to Create a Name for Your Cleaning Business

Before you open the doors of your cleaning business you not only need equipment and supplies, you need a name for your business. The name of your company will be the first thing prospective clients see - whether that is in the phone book, on your company car, in an ad, or on a website. The name symbolizes what your cleaning business represents. So it is important to spend some time on choosing a name that not only fits your cleaning business, but also presents a positive image to customers, suppliers and employees.

The easiest way to name your business it to use your own name or initials, such as Joe Smith's Cleaning. This provides a personal touch, is easy to remember, and if you have a proven track record in the business, it can attract customers. However, if your plan is to one day sell your business, you might want to consider something less personal.

Instead of using your name or initials, you may want to think of descriptive or suggestive wording for your business name. When going this route begin by brainstorming key words or phrases that have something to do with the business: clean, cleaning, squeaky clean, house cleaning, commercial cleaning, janitorial services, etc. Write down as many words as you can think of and use a thesaurus to create more wording possibilities.

You can also use words that describe the benefits your clients will get from using your service: spotless, spic-n-span, dust free, immaculate, etc. Take the words from your two lists and start combining them into various business names: Sparkling Waters Cleaning Company, A1 Janitorial Services, APlus Cleaning, Spic-n-Span Cleaning. As most businesses also use a tag line or motto, look through your list to see if any of your potential names suggest possibilities. For example, "Sparkling Waters Cleaning - Your floors will look like sparkling waters".

Try out different names and combinations and then judge the names by the following:

- Is it easy to pronounce?

- Is it concise?

- Is it easy to remember?

- Is it distinct?

- Does it convey the message you want your customers to see?

- Is it pleasant to hear and repeat over and over again? - Is it something you can stand behind?

Before you can begin using your business name, check to see if the name is already trademarked. Do an Internet search at the USPTO (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) at http://www.uspto.gov . Then check with your local secretary of state to see if anyone else in your state has already registered that name. Once you have decided if the name is available and can represent your business, run it by family and friends to get their reaction.

The business name is the flag that can wave down potential customers. Once you have decided on a name it will most likely be with you throughout the life of the business. Putting the time into researching a suitable name for your cleaning business is one way to get your business off and running in the right direction.

Federal Grants For Small Business

Starting your own enterprise is everyone's dream. The main restraint is, of course, the money. The Federal government provides assistance for entrepreneurs who want to excel by means of grants under different schemes. This is particularly done in the case of small businesses, as small businesses can effectively improve the status of the economy at the grassroots level. The task is only to identify the right grant. The United States is the only country that gives billions of dollars as Federal grants and low-interest loans to further strengthen its strong economic base and infrastructure.

Many state development agencies, non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions and local governments award the loans for small businesses. These grants can be used to start any type of business. Those who want to develop their small business enterprises can also apply for these grants. To be eligible for the grant you should be an US citizen at least 18 years old. The grants can be from the federal government, state government or from the agencies. These grants do not require collateral security, credit checks or any security deposits.

The first step to obtain the grant is to find out the sources from which you can obtain the grant. Locate them in your locality or your state. A listing of the agencies can be had from the federal and state governments. Then comes the grant scheme for which you are eligible.

Another source from which you can find information regarding the grants is the website grants.gov. This website provides a one-stop opportunity to apply for grants. According to the website there are over 1,000 grant programs offered by 26 Federal grant-making agencies. Applying grants online can reduce many tedious processes.

Neff Ovens - Good Housekeeping Institute Approved

Neff ovens are available in series one to series six, with series six having the highest specifications and series one being the most basic. There are three types of oven in the Neff family. Single ovens are Neff's flagship product. They can be bought on their own or together with a built- in microwave. Neff's double ovens feature two cavities and at least three different cooking options. Neff's range cookers feature either one large oven, dual cavity, or three separate cavities. Both models have a large hob with six burners and are flexible and easy to use.

The CircoTherm® cooking system is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. Neff introduced CircoTherm® cooking over 30 years ago and the method continues to be the benchmark for all fan models. The system works by drawing air in from the oven via a powerful fan. The air is then heated and forced back into the cavity through ducts in the back wall. The heated air is continuously circulated around the oven, which means that the temperature can be reached more efficiently and evenly than in versions that do not feature this technology.

Both the U1644 and U1564 double Neff ovens feature the CircoTherm® technology.

Neff ovens are available in a standard size, but also in smaller sizes for kitchens that do not have as much space for the new appliance. The B1724 model is only 45cm high, but they have managed to keep the same level of functionality. This particular model is a single oven and has the Circoterm® technology included. The H5430 is a microwave model and fits into a 50cm wide wall cupboard. The smaller appliances can still be customised to some extent in hat they can be combined with other small appliances including mix and match domino hobs and a slim line dishwasher.

All of the available Neff ovens have the option of a stainless steel finish, which is usually the most convenient option as it is easy to keep clean and also simple to coordinate with other stainless steel appliances. If you decide to go for a stainless steel appliance, you will probably be happy to know that all of Neff's stainless steel models carry the 'Steelmark,' which proves that they are manufactured fro authentic stainless steel. Some of the appliances are also available in other colours, such as black, brown or white.

All these cooking products are graded A-G to give the energy efficiency rating of the appliance. It is the same with all appliances. Since 2003, all electric oven manufacturers have been required by law to provide energy labels for their appliances. All Neff ovens are graded A or B.

Neff ovens have won a couple of awards, including the Good Housekeeping Institute giving their stamp of approval to two of Neff's ovens. The U1644 was awarded the Good Housekeeping Institute stamp of approval in 2005 an the B1644 model received the stamp of approval in 2006. Both of these ovens were put through rigorous testing programmes that looked at all aspects of its features, function and performance.

Housekeeping in a Nursing Care Facility

Proper medical care and nutrition are very important to monitor when a loved one is in a nursing care facility. Another area to keep a close watch on is the housekeeping department. How they clean rooms, lobbies, bathrooms, and other areas determines how good the care actually is at a nursing home. Even larger facilities should employ enough staff to ensure the building is clean and remains that way.

The truth is than many nursing facilities in an effort to save money, will only hire enough people to cover the shifts. This means when a person is absent or quits, it is then the nurse's job to clean rooms. With many nursing stations understaffed, housekeeping can sometimes take a back seat. When visiting a loved one, there are a few items to check to make sure at least a minimum amount of cleaning is being performed.

o Clean bathrooms are a must. Elderly people will sometimes have trouble using the bathroom. Clean bathrooms that are sanitized are essential to keep bacteria from being spread.

o Use of gloves. When changing a resident or cleaning up the bathroom, it is important that housekeeping and nursing staff use gloves to prevent the spread of bacteria.

o Clean sheets. Another way to keep bacteria from spreading and a way to keep residents comfortable.

o Make sure the staff is wearing clean uniforms. Nursing and housekeeping should always wear clean uniforms before each shift.

These are just a few items to look at when paying a visit to a nursing facility. Since the elderly are prone to catching colds easily, living in a clean space will help keep them safe and healthy.

Checklist for Setting Up a Home

No matter how many times I've set up a new home, there have always been too many trips to a variety of stores for a couple more things to make my new house a home. This check list is the result of my involvement the last couple of years investing in Florida properties that I renovate and then stock with everything including the silverware. Seasonal real estate buyers in the market will pay a premium for turn-key homes, where all they have to do is wheel their luggage in. My latest and fourth book 1001 Tips for Buying and Selling a Home started me on this enjoyable voyage of helping others through their home purchase and selling maze.

Team Work is Essential to Good Customer Service

As a hotel manager I am required to train new associates in the ways of my hotel's standards in customer service. I help to develop their customer service skills so that they may provide the same great service to our hotel guests that each and every other hotel of my brand in the country and around the world is providing. One of the main concepts I try hard to instill in my newbie customer service representatives is team work. Without the hotel staff working together, it would be impossible to provide proper service to our guests and everything would fall apart.

Good team work is an essential part of the customer service skills arsenal. Let's go to a hotel for an example of how team work is important. What are the main luxuries guests have come to expect out of their hotels during their stay? They expect to be checked in and given information, they expect their room to be clean, they expect the food to be good, and they expect to not have to pay so much. All of those expectations build up and make the impression of your hotel in the guests mind and each of those expectations must be handled and cared for so that the guest has a positive stay.

Let's see what would happen if there was no team involved. What if the front desk had to manage everything in the hotel and meet all of the guest's expectations? With no team to work with, this is going to be a difficult task. It might be manageable if the hotel has just one room but with hotels and hotel chains growing daily, we need a team to keep them up and running.

Communication between departments is the foundation of good team work. Without good communication there can be no team work or cooperation because no one will know what to do and when to do it. Just like in team sports, while one player is doing something he needs to communicate his goals either before or during the action in order to ensure that his team is functioning along side him.

If but one player falls short of understanding the communication the entire play can be lost. Just like if the front desk does not communicate to the housekeeping staff that the room needs to be allergen free, the task will not get done and the guest will complain that their room caused them to have an allergic reaction and go to the hospital.

Managing Competing Priorities When Everything Is Important

I'm guilty, are you? Our email inbox fills up with items that we always intend to "get to later". Our daily planners have action items both immediate and long range. We make lists and put sticky notes on our desks or other surfaces to remind us of all of the things we need to complete. Add to that, the list of personal commitments and responsibilities or the challenge of doing the "job" at the expense of "building" the business. It's no wonder that we find ourselves exhausted and frustrated when the list or lists just seem to be getting longer and longer.

The notion of prioritizing tasks, actions and requests is very familiar. Most planners and calendar programs have the capability of assigning a priority to items entered. Unfortunately, during the course of the day, other items and requests come into the picture and the list that was developed so carefully is pushed to the side with an "I'll come back to this later." Whether or not the list is completed depends largely on how late the writer is willing to work that evening or what other priority gets sacrificed.

One of the primary concepts of the quality methodology of Lean Manufacturing derives from the Japanese concept of "housekeeping" for the workplace. The approach referred to as the Five S's is commonly anglicized to the following:

Sort
Straighten
Shine
Standardize
Sustain
By stepping out of the literal definition of the words, we can see a useful approach to managing priorities that compete for our time.

1. SORT-Create a list of everything that you need or want to do. Try to make it as all inclusive as possible. Look beyond specific daily tasks or deliverables and the ad-hoc requests that come across your desk. As you create your list, be sure to include the actions that will move you toward specific goals that you have for your career or business. Too frequently, we allow the daily to-dos to take over and thus ignore those positive action steps that will have the greatest impact on our future. Sort the list broadly in terms of what it means to things that are important. For example, using the terms "Step", "Stretch" and "Leap" we might assign "Step" to all of the daily tasks and one-off things that we need to do because they are requirements of our daily responsibilities. "Stretch" might be used to describe the ideas and actions that are needed to accomplish short-term personal or professional goals. Finally, "Leap" refers to the items that will propel us toward much greater accomplishments.

2. STRAIGHTEN-Organize your list. Let's apply the concept to 'tidying' up our To-Do list before filling in our planners. I recently read an approach to regaining and maintaining control of your email inbox. Like the 5 S's it is an alphabetical catch-phrase, the Four D's! Simply ask yourself what you would or could do with each item.

Do you:

DO IT
DELEGATE IT
DEFER IT
DUMP IT
What are the things you really need to do personally? Even if you could do it or do it most expediently, who else could you ask? Next, ask your self how many things must be done right now. When someone calls unexpectedly during the day and asks you to take care of something, how often do you drop everything to respond simply because you assume that it needs to be done right now? If you are unsure of the deadline, ask the requestor or perhaps contact them with some timetable options. Finally, ask yourself if it needs to be done at all. If it has been deferred 2 to 3 times, perhaps it is unpleasant or unnecessary. If the task is unpleasant yet important, put it right at the top of your list. Completing the actions that are put off because they are unpleasant give the greatest sense of accomplishment. On the other hand, it is possible that you have things hanging around your to-do list that simply are not important anymore. If they are no longer important, they have no place in your list. Working backwards, get rid of the Dump It items. You don't need these unnecessary items cluttering up your actions. If it is a Defer It, mark it as such and set a time to revisit it. For those marked Delegate, pass it on now and take it off your list as well. What you are left with is a streamlined list of actions that are most important to you and have the opportunity to make the greatest positive impact.

3. SHINE-In housekeeping terms or on the factory floor, this component refers to a tidy, and organized workspace. Think of ways, you can 'clean up' you to do list. If you have sticky notes posted around your work space, plus a planner, plus a notepad list, consolidate to a single location. Consider blocking sections of your planner to devote to categories of activities rather than specific activities. If you are a visual person, color coding the blocks will help highlight the times that you make available for "Step", "Stretch" and "Leap" activities. Don't forget your personal time. You have steps, stretches and leaps there too.

The ratio of how much time is blocked for each category is up to you. A word of caution, take care not to let the "Steps" cannibalize your calendar and cause you to neglect the decisions and actions that will really move you forward. Priorities compete because they are seldom sequential. They need to be balanced and managed simultaneously. No matter how hard you work, if you try to finish the "Steps" before moving on to the "Stretches", you will find that more "Steps" have filled in to consume your time and you will not spend any time on the actions that will truly transform your life, career or business.

Next, sort the activities within each category by priority. Use a prioritization process that works for you to rate the importance of each item relative to others in that group. For example, prioritize the "Step" items against other "Step Items". This is important. The daily tasks and 'fire drills' are not more important than the medium and long term actions you need to take. They just seem that way because they are current and at the top of your mind. Giving them constant priority over the things that will develop you or your business shortchanges both. After you have assigned priority to each of the items within a particular group, slot them into the appropriate blocks in your planner.

4. STANDARDIZE-Once you work out the process that works for you to organize, prioritize and action the things that compete for your attention, apply it consistently. Since this is a personal process, you may not feel a need to document it, however, you may want to create a system for logging or designating your decisions and a filing system to archive them.

5. SUSTAIN-This is the most critical S. Whatever process you develop to decision and manage competing priorities, you need commitment. Like a new year's resolution, make the commitment and stick to it. If you find the process too time consuming, strip it down. If trying to manage competing priorities over a long time horizon is too cumbersome, use the 5 's to manage what you want to accomplish this month, this week, or just today. Respect the process that you have developed, use it consistently and don't let the excuses of "I don't have the time to do it" or "It's too complicated" allow noise of all of those priorities to drown out what you need and want to do to be successful.
